Traditional Mexican Oilcloth Patterns Collage Sheets

Who can resist the intense color and sprit of the traditional Mexican oilcloths. The Mexican sun seems to shine thru these wonderful patterns. This sheet includes 5 artist trading card size backgrounds plus 5 smaller background or matte pieces. Simply perfect for your Day of the Dead ATC swaps. Each collage sheet is 8.5 x 11 inches.

For this piece I used a scrap of masonite covered with printed scrapbook paper. I then matted and added my favorite image from the Images of the Feminine collage sheet sold below - this sheet is from my original photos taken in Mexico. I then added bits of matching scrapbook papers and 2 bone beads with turquoise beads added with jewelry glue. Finally the entire piece was sealed with a clear gloss decoupage medium.

Mexican Art - Images of the Feminine Collage Sheets

This is the last of the collage sheets from my photos taken on my 2006 trip to Baja. As I was cropping and knocking out backgrounds in photoshop for this sheet I was completely baffled as to what its theme was. The art images are from 1200 BC to the early 19th century. then as I was assembling them onto the layout I realized they are all images of women and the feminine energy of the Mexican culture. I only wish that you could have seen these images in person. The Goddess Tree of Sea Life is nearly 10 feet tall with hundreds of clay images of sea life. Now this was an assemblage art project:)! the beauty and detail of the snake goddess is lovely as is the sweet image of the Aztec girl. Hope you enjoy adding these to your art projects. If you are looking for some unique goddess imagery this is perfect. All images are in 2 sizes so that they will work for larger projects such as an altered book or for smaller collage such as artist trading cards.

On the Streets of Baja Collage Sheets

The bright handpainted signage, the people, the intense color of the vendor stalls and even a photo of a painted sidewalk that I just couldn't resist as a background texture.
