This
technique of printing with real leaves has been around for a long
time. It is very easy to do and requires only a few materials and
makes wonderful backgrounds for Collage, Altered Books, Handmade
Cards...Below are some samples I did just playing around.

These
were done using pages from an old book, a leaf, and copper
and green acrylic paints. To see an enlargement of the pages

| This is my
favorite..I used a heavy mulburry type handmade paper and
gold acrylic paint. To see an enlargement of the page just

You will need some sturdy leaves, acrylic paints, small brush and
whatever papers you want to do prints on. Simply put a light coat
of paint on the back side of the leaf and press it onto the paper
and lift straight up with the stem. I was able to get two prints
of the leaf from each paint coating..you will need to get a fresh
leaf when you change paint colors. This is fun now to see what I
can do with my new backgrounds!

| This canvas
collage is by Sherre Hulbert. She not only expanded on the
technique but used the leaves as well. To see a larger view
of this piece just click on the image. |
